A man from Venice suddenly appeared above Valens on the Grauen Hörnern, where he placed a “Stitze” (Tankard) under a gold-dripping spring, which he collected when full, the following year. The last time he came, he was called “above the Brudermatt“, near Vadura, where he used to stop and spend the night. They went up the rugged walls, where one could not otherwise set foot; the Wildmannli showed the companion the gold site, but forbade him to look back as he left. The man found this strange and looked back; therefore, despite all his searching, he was later unable to find the source.

Die Goldstitze

Ein Venedigermannli erschien plötzlich ob Valens an den Grauen Hörnern, wo es unter eine goldtropfende Quelle eine “Stitze” hinstellte, die es im folgenden Jahr voll abholte. Als es das letzte Mal kam, hiess es “ob dem Brudermatt”, bei Vadura, wo es einzukehren und zu übernachten pflegte, einen mitkommen. Es ging die schroffen Wände hinauf, wo man sonst keinen Fuss absetzen konnte; das Mannli zeigte dem Begleiter die Goldstelle, verbot ihm aber beim Weggehen das Zurückblicken. Der Mann fand das sonderbar und schaute zurück; darum konnte er trotz alles Suchens später die Quelle nicht mehr auffinden.
