In the Untertal, the pre-glacial valley of the Schilz, below the great Gufel, there once lived wild people. They did no one any harm and led a miserable life. A woman from Grossberg gave them food now and then and did them good in general. Once the wild woman offered her brown leaves from a sapling. In order not to offend the people, the woman form Grossberg took the leaves, even though she thought they were only bed leaves.

On the way home she dropped the leaves. One of them got caught on her apron. When she looked at it closer at home, it was gold.

289. von den wilden Leuten

Im Untertal, dem vorgletscherzeitlichen Tal des Schilz, unter dem grossen Gufel, lebten einst wilde Leute, Sie taten niemand etwas zu leid und führten ein armseliges Leben. Eine Grossbergerin gab ihnen hie und da zu essen und tat ihnen überhaupt Gutes. Da bot ihr das wilde Weiblein einmal in seinem Schösslein braune Blätter an. Um den Leuten nicht weh zu tun, nahm die Grotzbergerin die Blätter, obgleich sie dieselben nur für Bettlaub hielt.

Auf dem Heimweg liess sie die Blätter fallen. Eines blieb an der Schürze hängen. Als sie es daheim näher anschaute, war es Gold.
