“I am certainly not superstitious, and yet something happened to me where things did not go with natural things,” Stega-Leart (Leonhard), generally known as a free spirit, told me. “One evening I had left my cattle well tied up in the stable at Montjol and in the best of condition. When I returned to the stable the following morning, I found one chain empty and two cattle jammed in another in a way that no human being could have done. For a long time I had to strain all my strength to free the two animals from their unpleasant and dangerous position. Of course, I immediately moved my cattle to another stable; the hay that remained was not fed until the following year.

Zwei Rinder in einer Kette

“Ich bin gewiss nicht abergläubisch, und doch ist mir etwas passiert, wo es nicht mit natürlichen Dingen zugegangen ist,” erzählte mir der allgemein als Freigeist bekannte Stega-Leart (Leonhard). “Eines Abends hatte ich mein Vieh im Stall im Montjol gut eingebunden und im besten Zustande verlassen. Als ich am folgenden Morgen wieder in den Stall kam, fand ich eine Kette leer, in einer andern dagegen zwei Rinder derart eingeklemmt, wie es keinem Menschen möglich gewesen wäre, es so zu machen. Lange Zeit musste ich alle meine Kräfte anspannen, um die beiden Tiere aus ihrer unangenehmen und gefährlichen Lage zu befreien. Selbstverständlich zog ich mit meinem Vieh sofort in einen andern Stall; das zurückgebliebene Heu wurde erst im folgenden Jahre verfüttert.
