A poor man from Rans, who was looking for dry wood in the Geitzbachtobel, on the Buchserberg, fell off a rock and broke his leg. He had to lie there all afternoon and the following night, calling for help from time to time. Finally a Wildmannli appeared, who, after finding out what was wrong with the man from Rans, said: “So, is it only this? I thought you had a toothache!” And with that he departed again.

Ein armer Mann von Rans, welcher beim Geitzbachtobel, am Buchserberg, dürres Holz suchte, fiel über einen Fels hinunter und brach ein Bein. Den ganzen Nachmittag und die folgende Nacht musste er liegen bleiben und rief von Zeit zu Zeit um Hilfe, Endlich erschien ein wildes Männchen, welches, nachdem es erfahren, was dem Ranser fehlte, sagte: “So, ist es nur das? Ich habe geglaubt, du habest Zahnschmerzen!” Und damit entfernte es sich wieder.
