Das erinnert an die Feuerproben auf den alten Dingstätten. Der Priester sprach: “Ich beschwöre dich, Kreatur des Wassers, dass der Teufel weiche aus dir und du dem Herrn dienest zur Offenbarung der Wahrheit gleich dem Feuerofen des Königs von Babylon, da er die drei Jünglinge hineinwerfen liess.” Dann hatte der Angeklagte den goldenen Ring herauszunehmen, ohne sich zu verbrennen. Damit war seine Unschuld bewiesen.
