According to popular belief, our smallest bell comes from the little monastery that is said to have stood in the “Nonnenbaumert” (Nun’s Tree) in the Balgach forest. It is made of pure silver and was painted black 100 years ago so that it would not be stolen by foreign warriors. But the sound of it hardly suggests that the folktale is right.

Unsere kleinste Glocke

Unsere kleinste Glocke stammt nach dem Volksglauben aus dem kleinen Klösterlein, das in alten Zeiten im “Nonnenbaumert” gestanden haben soll, im Balgacher Wald. Sie bestehe aus purem Silber und sei vor 100 Jahren schwarz bemalt worden, damit sie von den fremden Kriegern nicht entwendet werde. Ihr Klang aber lässt kaum darauf schliessen, dass der Volksmund recht hätte.
