In the past, there was supposed to have been purgatory on earth. The poor souls used to wander around in human form with blue lights, also as dogs, cats, and so on. A pope is said to have stopped them having to do this any more.

Früher soll das Fegfeuer auf Erden gewesen sein. Da seien die armen Seelen in Menschengestalt umhergewandert mit blauen Lichtern, auch als Hunde, Katzen u.s.w. Ein Papst soll bewirkt haben, dass sie das nicht mehr tun müssen.
