In Arbon, the old small church still stands next to the new large one. Next to the portal, a small niche can be seen in the wall and in it a stone with a large, elongated round depression. St. Gallus is said to have stood on the stone when he left his cell by the Steinach to speak to the people down there by the lake. In the fervour of his speech, he would mark the stone in this way with his foot.

Der Eifer des Glaubensboten

In Arbon steht neben der neuen grossen Kirche noch die alte kleine. Neben dem Portal ist in der Mauer eine kleine Nische zu sehen und in dieser ein Stein, der eine grosse, länglichrunde Vertiefung aufweist. Auf dem Stein soll Gallus gestanden haben, wenn er seine Zelle an der Steinach verliess, um dort unten am See zum Volke zu reden. Im Eifer seiner Rede habe er mit dem Fuss den Stein in dieser Weise gezeichnet.
